🎾 Tennis Practice Log - Day 3 & Day 4 🎾
It’s already my fourth day of tennis practice! Although my skills are still lacking, I feel like I’m slowly getting the hang of it through consistent training. The most repeated advice from my coach during this session was: "You must step forward with your right foot first!"

At first, I just followed the instruction without thinking much about it, but then I started wondering why it was necessary. So, I did some research and reflected on my own practice experience. Here’s what I found out.

Why Should I Step Forward with My Right Foot?

I am right-handed, and the movement I learned in this session was the forehand step. After analyzing my coach’s advice, I discovered several advantages of stepping forward with the right foot.

✅ 1. Proper Weight Transfer for a More Powerful Shot

In tennis, power doesn’t just come from the arms but from utilizing the entire body.
Stepping forward with the right foot naturally shifts the body weight forward, allowing more force to be transferred to the ball. 💪🔥
In short, this is a fundamental technique for generating stronger and more accurate forehand shots.

✅ 2. Essential Step for an Aggressive Shot

When hitting a forehand, it’s important to feel like you’re moving towards the ball.
By stepping forward with the right foot, the body moves in the direction of the ball, allowing you to take a more aggressive position.
On the other hand, if you hit while stepping backward, your shot tends to become defensive.

✅ 3. Easier Balance and Timing Control

Since the ball approaches at high speed, hitting with the right timing is crucial.
Stepping forward with the right foot helps naturally rotate the body, making it easier to maintain balance.

✅ 4. A Fundamental Step Used by Professional Players

If you watch matches of professional players like Federer or Djokovic, you’ll notice that they step in with their right foot when hitting short balls or taking aggressive forehands.
This is commonly known as the Step-in Forehand technique! 🎾🔥

What I Felt While Practicing

After understanding the theory, I was able to focus more during practice.
At first, stepping forward with the right foot felt awkward, but after a few repetitions, I started feeling that my shots were becoming more powerful and stable.

✔️ Moving forward, I will consciously practice stepping in with my right foot!
✔️ My next goal is to repeat this movement until it feels completely natural!

If you are also struggling with forehand footwork, I highly recommend trying this technique.
And if you have any additional tips, feel free to share them in the comments! 🎾✨
